To our Assisting Hands serving Columbus, OH clients and families

We pray that you and your families are doing well during this unique time. Our clients and caregivers are navigating this new environment with flexibility and grace, and we continue to work hard to deliver the excellent in-home care you have come to know and expect from us. Four weeks ago, we sent you our first note with information about our coronavirus response measures. Here’s a brief update:
- Our care management team of nurses is continuously checking in with our clients and caregivers to check on their health status.
- PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment): We are fortunate that we have a sufficient supply on hand and are asking all of our caregivers to wear masks when near our clients or providing personal care. As always, we are instructing them on CDC guidelines.
- Our office staff is working 100% remotely, but you won’t notice any changes in how you communicate with us. We have great technology that allows us to seamlessly work from any location.
- Soon, we will distribute thermometers to our caregivers so they are able to regularly check their temperatures.
- We continue to accept new clients and hire caregivers.
- Our care management team is closely monitoring changes to CDC guidelines and working closely with the network of family and professional care for each client.
Some clients have asked how we see the pandemic impacting or changing the care we provide moving forward:
- We fully anticipate that we will continue to provide care close to normal. In some instances, we may need to change caregivers or adjust a schedule. If we think there would be a change to the normal routine, we will speak with you as soon as we know.
- A few families have decided to move Mom or Dad to their homes from Assisted Living or Independent Living. We are helping them with this transition and continuing to provide care in their new home.
- Many of our seniors are now very isolated, and we have been asked to provide companionship, to facilitate phone and video calls with family, as well as no-contact grocery shopping drop-off or social-distanced delivery, cleaning, and putting away of groceries.
- We have helped families transition their loved one from hospice care back to the home environment and are addressing supplemental care needs with compassion and sensitivity.
We have also put a Coronavirus Resources page on our website. We are regularly updating this information for our clients, caregivers, and business partners. You’ll find valuable information here, including our library of Caregiver Training Videos, to assist you and your loved ones during this pandemic.
